After working with thousands of clients over the last two decades, we have cracked the code to living your best life by watching and learning from our happy and healthy clients. I want to share what we’ve learned with you today.
If you have been following us, you know that for us, this year is about “putting your best foot forward”.
I am going to let you in on a secret that I do every month on this day as part of my self-care – I meet with a group of girlfriends for coffee on the first Thursday of each month.
Whenever something is important to me, it gets a permanent spot on my calendar. This helps me to put my best foot forward and to show up as my best self outside of those self-care scheduled times. So what does this mean for you?
Our most successful clients – the ones who are healthy and happy the majority of the time, are also the most highly scheduled clients. These are the ones that prioritize a workout schedule on certain days of the week and have meditation/spiritual time scheduled every week. They plan out their healthcare appointments like annual physicals and even plan ahead for how often they come in for acupuncture.
Ok, so we know that our healthcare appointments should be scheduled – but what about our fun time with friends that feeds our soul? Yes! That is just as important as well, and too often overlooked!
I know that most of us don’t want to be overscheduled, but what I have learned is that I truly feel free moving through the rest of my week when I have scheduled self-care time that week. A schedule becomes a habit, and over time sticking with your self-care time will feel natural and needed.
There are 168 hours in a week. If we sleep an average of 56 hours in a week, that leaves us 112 hours in a week for work, leisure, family time, self-care, etc. Let’s say that we take 14 hours per week to eat, 40 hours per week to work, 5 hours per week to exercise, and 4 hours for self-care (acupuncture appointments included in that time estimate!), that gives us 49 hours per week to feel cool, confident, and in control as we move through the rest of life. That’s it! Between the 5 hours of exercise and the 4 hours of self-care (coffee with friends, acupuncture, massage, meditation – you name it), this seems totally doable, yes?
I love data. When we massage the data, we can truly see the potential in our weekly time if we just stop scrolling on social, stop worrying while doing laundry, and stop feeling overwhelmed about life while watching Netflix. Just focus on self-care and you will feel more in control, happier in life, and more highly focused when you need to get something done during the week.
