I always love Valentine’s Day week – the days are remarkably longer come mid-February and the sunshine is so much stronger than in December.
It is a nice reminder that spring is on its way. However, we are still in winter and now is still a great time to start the inner work we need to do if we want to see great change this spring.
If you have been following our blogs and newsletters – you have heard me talk about this year at Dedham Acupuncture, our goal for the office is to step into “our best and highest self”
We had our Galentine’s Day event this past Sunday and it was such a success (thanks to everyone who came!). But, honestly, it really wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t been pushing ourselves to be our best and highest selves. After the event on Monday, I was so happy that one of my dreams, to have a fun pop-up event, was finally realized.
And then, I had an “aha moment”. For several years, I have been envisioning my dreams – a comfortable house, a nice, fun work environment, soul-filling family vacations – and I always thought that once I achieved these dreams – then, and only then, would I be my best and highest self.
But, I realized it’s actually the other way around. I needed to be my best and highest self FIRST before my dreams could happen. This past Galentine’s Day event on Sunday at our office couldn’t have happened without the whole office committing to putting our best foot forward. Since September, we have been locking in our SOPs (standard operating procedures), cleaning up the books, and filling small holes in our processes, all while maintaining a positive attitude. The staff at Dedham Acupuncture has been ah-mazing! And it hasn’t always been easy. We have had to lay down hard and fast boundaries, pushing some of us out of our comfort zone to embrace new processes. And guess what? Change. Is.Hard.
But had we not worked hard and committed to ourselves and our goals prior to Sunday, our pop-up just wouldn’t have been successful. When we have inner chaos, we can’t enjoy the bigger things in life when they come our way.
Paying attention to the small hinges opens up really big doors.
So, pay attention to your small hinges. What isn’t working for you anymore? What are you tolerating? What health issues have been holding you back? What other issues have been holding you back from achieving your dreams? Have you set aside time every week to slay those dragons? Because if you do, in a very short amount of time, you will achieve that dream and open that big door. Sometimes we procrastinate FOR YEARS on something that will take us HOURS to tackle. I know because I am the queen (or used to be) of doing that. But, change is possible, and it’s worth it.
Have a wonderful week,
Nicole
